Cleaning the driveway

After church we decided to go out and clean the driveway as a family, since if we drive on it, the snow gets packed down and doesn't melt for weeks since it is north facing.   When we were through the kids loved playing on the side where we had put all the snow.  Spencer, Sam, and Solayna were all making chairs out of the snow and found out that the snow insulated them really well.  They were afraid they weren't going to be able to get out of their chairs, but as soon as I told them they could have some hot apple cider they promptly broke them and ran in the house to get it.

Snow Temple

We finally got another snow storm and the kids were so excited once we got out of church to go play in it.  So we went out and built a snow temple with this awesome igloo thing.  The boys started creating landscape and making trees and hedges in front of it.  Shianne didn't want to come out so she stayed inside and read her book, instead of joining in the fun.

Spencer's present

Amazon lied and Spencer's present didn't get here until the monday after his birthday.  He couldn't quite figure out what it was at first, but once he did he was pretty excited.  He got a shotgun bullet holder to put on his gun and $20 to buy some bullets when we go to Cedar.  He is such a focused boy and when he wants to accomplish something he puts forth a determined effort.

Aunt Florence

Brooke has a Great Aunt that lives here in Escalante.  Aunt Florence is actually his Grandmother's aunt, and is 97 years old.  We go over to her house about once a month to visit. She is losing her sight and hearing now, so it is sometimes hard to communicate with her.  She loves to hear us all play the piano, so all of us get on her piano and play a song or two, and she always claps after each song.  

She is one of the most proper ladies I have ever met.  She has experienced so much in her life, and was one of the first ladies to get her pilots licence in Utah.  She joined the WASPS during WWII and had many friends there, and great courage.  She is such a great example to everyone she meets.
