New Years Eve

For New Years Eve we played some minute to win it games.  It is always fun to play these games with the kids and have fun watching them come up with different things.  This one we had to flip the plate and try to get the paper in the cup.

I honestly can't remember what this one is, maybe I should keep up with the blog better huh.

The light train that comes around the town.  It is gorgeous and so fun.  The kids get so excited to see it.

The kids have been earning money all through the year for a Wii.  They weren't sure if they were going to get one or not, since I wasn't sure if I wanted a wii or not.  I decided that I did want a wii so I ordered it and wrapped it up for Christmas.  They were so excited when they opened it up, but not one of them asked if they could play it since it was Sunday.  We were skyping with my parents who are on a mission in Vanuatu which is a day ahead of us, and my mom asked them if they had played the wii.  Sam was like, "NO, it's Sunday here!"  I was so proud of them for wanting to keep the Sabbath day holy.

Shi's present for Spencer

Each year we do homemade Christmas presents for each other.  It has to be made out of something we have around the house, and has to be homemade.  Shianne this year went with me to a Relief Society night where they were teaching different methods of quilting.  She saw this type, I don't remember what it is called, but she really wanted to make Spencer a fish quilt.  We started like in September with her cutting out the fish shape, and then we cut scraps and she sewed them onto the fish shape.  The first fish we did she used a lot of little scraps of material but after that one her scraps got bigger so she wouldn't have to sew so much.  It was such a big project, especially since we both had never made a scrap quilt before.  We plunged it and thanks to Brooke and his elk hunt, we spent 3 full days working on it.  It was so fun to have Shianne learning right beside me.

 Spencer loved it!! He was so excited.  On the big fish in the middle we stitched in "I want to be a Fisherman"  He drew a picture in school and wrote that and I thought it was so stinking cute, I had to include it on the blanket.  Shi stitched "Love Shi" down int he corner.  I hope this is a blanket that will last so long he can wrap his little boy in it.
